About the artwork
This 2003 work comprises five plaited mats of 16 neon light tubes, each with a different, rather daring colour combination. As with the artist’s other designs, the functional is interwoven with the practical in both public and private spaces.
About the artist
Ingo Maurer is sometimes known as ‘the poet of light’. He designed his first lamps after settling in Munich in 1966. He participated in numerous exhibitions and been the recipient of multiple European prizes.
